TESTIMONIALS ABOUT THE ART OF GOD 2018 marks the nineteenth anniversary of the first printing of The Art of God. That’s incredible! … It seems like only yesterday that I finished the layout and was eagerly waiting to see an advance copy from the publisher.
How blessed I’ve been since that day to receive hundreds of encouraging letters and calls and comments, telling me about the uplifting impact The Art of God has had in so many reader’s lives. And how humbling it is to know that I had nothing to do with their blessing apart from reveling in the beauty that God put before my lens and using the skills He gave me to share it and to describe it with His own words in the Bible. Soli Deo Gloria! — “To God Alone be the Glory!” Indeed.
The sample reviews that I’ve posted below are a wonderful reflection of the continued and growing support that The Art of God has received from its readers over the years, for which I am extremely grateful. Thank you all for your kind words, and for taking the time to write a review. —Ric Ergenbright
If there were no words in Ric’s book, his breathtakingly beautiful photographs would speak eloquently enough of the glory of our Creator. Ric’s prose artistry, however, helps the reader really “see” what he or she is looking at. You’ll be treated to solid, well-thought out and Scripturally grounded, practical, and devotional theology, and you’ll grow in the knowledge of the Divine Artist! Daniel Dillard, Amazon, 12/4/1999
“Thoreau said, “Read the best books first,” and were he alive today I think he would list “THE ART OF GOD” as one of those books; and with it Ric Ergenbright can claim his position as one of the world’s great landscape photographers: Ansel Adams would surely welcome him into the “f/64 Club” in a heartbeat. But equal to the stunning photography is the almost autobiographical prose which seamlessly equates the words of the Scriptures to its beautiful imagery. If you can dream of a world you’ve never seen before, “THE ART OF GOD” will open the door; and the real beauty is, one the book speaks to on every page, its right here on Earth. “THE ART OF GOD” is an absolute masterpiece.” K.C. Remington, Amazon, 10/25/1999
The photographs are breathtakingly beautiful, and the scripture/text accompany them perfectly. I purchased the book for my future father-in-law who loves God and nature. Everyone who has seen the book wants a copy also. This is simply an astonishing effort. “Agyemank,” Amazon, 12/27/1999
Former agnostic and nature photographer Ric Ergenbright spreads before us a stunning visual feast of God’s glory, as reflected in creation. Travel through gorgeous views of air, water, fire, forests, stones, and more. Not just a coffee table book, The Art of God provides a theology of creation as part of a two-fold design (the second part being the story of Christ played out through history). We can even learn about the complexity of creation, as in Ergenbright’s discussion of how freshwater rain needs undrinkable seawater to send it on its journey. L.L. Barkat, Amazon, Amazon, 4/28/2006
I bought this for home school, but I am enjoying it so much myself. I can get lost in these photographs (some move me to tears). . . and the accompanying text is perfect. “Hope,” Amazon, 9/26/2013
Even though we do not have the priviledge to visit a lot of the places that are captured in the book, the photographer was able to “bring” us there with him. The devotion was very inspiring. After reading the book, it makes me become more appreciative of and sensitive to the details of nature that our awesome God makes. Reading this book as a devotion is like putting on the glasses for our souls as we experience God in a refeshing, deep, and profound way. “K,” Amazon, 10/27/2000
I came across this book while looking for a gift for a friend. I wanted a book that would show the glory of God but would also use the powerful Word of God. I was astounded by the impact this book has in both photography and the use of God’s Word. I bought the only book in the store, ordered another one (so I could have one for myself) and will probably give this as a Christmas gift to most of my family and friends. Reader, Amazon, 8/11/2000
This book is full of treats. Not only does it contain breathtaking pictures of God’s artistic talent, but the photographer even gives details about how he took each shot. The back of the book is filled with what camera, filter, and setting he used. This is a must have for your coffee table. If you don’t have a coffee table, you will want to get one!!! Peggy Knopf, Amazon, 11/1/2000
Eden may be lost, but Ergenbright’s insightful eye for beauty proves that much of paradise is still to be found. Amazingly beautiful nature photographs of every element can be found in this book: skies, bodies of water, cliffs, and even lava flows present the viewer with beauty that only a Supreme God could create. Ergenbright’s modest introduction in the beginning of the book and his Biblical passages leave no doubt in regards to his devotion to God as the true artist here, but Ergenbright’s own artistic talents certainly cannot be overlooked! I’m a huge lover of beautiful art and Ergenbright’s uplifting Christian messages greatly added to the peacefulness of his breathtaking images, luring me into a state of blissful lethargy. This book is truly a wonderful testament of nature’s beauty and I recommend it even if you are not a Christian; everyone can appreciate the beauty here, no matter what faith they are. J.R. Corry, Amazon, 5/5/2006
This book not only is a composition of wonderful and beautiful pictures of high quality but is followed by a narrative, if you so choose to read, that enforces the truth of our Creator and Intelligent design so obvious all around us. I have given it as a gift to several family members and friends and they have loved it as I do. After perusiing through the pages of this book you feel good, there is something uplifting, inspiring and very good about its message and portrayal of “The Art of God”. Enjoy! “Huckleberryfin,” Amazon, 3/28/2002
The cover of this book drew me across a bookstore, and I opened the pages into infinite Zen. It now sits on our coffee table and is viewed by every visitor, equally compelled and summoned. The photography is divine and vivid…Ric’s explanations an intimate view into the mind of a visionary. The natural beauty unfolds itself before him – then each of us – in a dance of grace and knowing that there is indeed omniscience in the world beyond mundane. “World Explorer,” Amazon, 5/30/2001
The Art of God by Ric Ergenbright is my favorite book after the Bible. Even people who do not know Jesus can appreciate the beauty found in this book through the outstanding nature scenes that were photographed all over the world. Mr. Ergenbright is truly gifted by God to bring to life in paper form all of these magnificent places. Robert Leatherwood, Amazon, 6/13/2003
This book is captivating with outstanding and gorgeous photography showing the supreme artistry of God in creation, to see God’s majesty through what He has made. The book has a religious slant, of course (see title), with biblical verses connecting to the photographs. The main sections of the books are Introduction, Elements, Design, Environments,, and Ebb & Flow. It is an excellent Coffee Table book and I highly recommend it for yourself and as a gift to others. I gave it as a gift to an artist friend and he loved it. “DavidU,” Amazon, 8/25/2005
